Let the fun of Halloween continue!

Impressions Dental hosts a great even for children and their families to have a fun-filled day of activities where they can trade-in candy to benefit schools and American service members. We are hosting the 7th annual Halloween Candy Buy-back on November 3rd. Impressions Dental teams up with Aspen Orthodontics to host the 7th annual Halloween Candy Buy-Back on Monday, November 3, 2014. Activities such as a dunk-the-dentist booth, balloon artists, and a bounce house will begin at 3 p.m. and continue until 7 p.m. at 5970 S. Cooper Road, Chandler, Arizona. This all leads up to a drawing for $1,000 in dental care and $1,000 in orthodontic work presented to two lucky winners!

This event encourages children and their families to donate their Halloween candy and receive $1 for each pound of candy. As well as the money children make by giving up candy, their Chandler family dentist, Impressions Dental, donates an additional 50 cents to a local school on their behalf. Don’t worry; the candy that’s collected at the event does not get thrown out. It will be given to Operation Gratitude to be included in care packages for delivery to active duty members of the U.S. military who are serving overseas. Sponsorship of the event by a Chandler dentistry office, was not a coincidence. “As a dentist, I have seen all too often how candy can wreak havoc on my patient’s teeth,” says Dr. Brigham D. Baker, of Impressions Dental. “This event helps remove the temptation to indulge in candies that may be problematic for bridge work or fillings.” The candy buy-back event is presented in cooperation with Chick-fil-A, Barrow’s Pizza, Dunkin’ Donuts, Red Robin, and other local business partners.

Event highlights include parents and children selling their Halloween candy, children taking a shot at dunking their dentist at the dunk booth, and kids enjoying the bounce house. The imaginative designs from the balloon artists will bring smiles to the faces of all those participating at the event.

Get rid of your dental fears by utilizing sedation dentistry.

Have you ever awaken in the middle of the night with an extraordinary, throbbing pain in your teeth? Do you ever experience anxiety about the idea of having to go to the dentist for routine dental care? If so, please know you are not alone. According to the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation, 30% of the population avoid going to the dentist, mostly out of fear of pain associated with dental procedures. Although dental techniques can be painful, patients have options to alleviate pain with the help of sedation dentistry.

A Sedation Dentist is a dentist who performs sedation dentistry which uses sedative drugs to help patients feel more comfortable during basic and invasive procedures. Sedation dentistry is often referred to as "sleep dentistry." Most patients are allowed to be awake during the procedure unless they opt for general anesthesia in which they will be completely unconscious during the procedure.

There are many different types of sedation a patient can choose from. The different types of sedation are minimal sedation in which a patient can choose to be awake. Moderate sedation is a little stronger than minimal, but the patient may not remember much about the dental visit. Deep sedation puts the patient into the edge of consciousness but the patient is still awake. The next sedation is general anesthesia which is a state of complete unconsciousness. A patient has many types of sedation to pick from as well as the routes of sedation. They different routes of sedation are oral sedation which is the most common form used in the United States. Oral sedation is the use of pills called Halcion similar to Valium which is given an hour before the patient's procedure to induce a minimal to moderate sedation. The next route of sedation is inhaled sedation. It involves breathing in nitrogen oxide or laughing gas to induce a sedative state. The third route of sedation is IV sedation. Patients are given IV sedatives which work quickly to relax patients.

It is very important for patients to talk with their local Sedative dentist about the different treatment types and routes that may be the best option for them. Every patient has different needs and feelings about what is right for them. Some patients may prefer more control and may choose to be awake during a procedure while others may choose to be completely unconscious. Sedative dentistry offer many options to make everyone feel more content with going to the dentist.

Can you smile handle being your first impression?

A smile is a greatly powerful asset no matter what language you speak. A person’s smile is one of the features others notice first. Can your teeth handle being the first impression? Can they manage that kind of pressure? You can say many different things with your smile, without actually saying a word. Don’t forget about your breath either. No matter how white and clean your teeth look there could still be other reasons why your breath is foul, which is why it is important to keep up with your dental checkups. Studies have shown that about 80% of bad breath comes from an oral source. Having your teeth cleaned is a vital part of oral hygiene, involving the removal of dental plaque from teeth with the intention of preventing cavities, gingivitis, and periodontal disease. Dental hygienists can remove hardened deposits (tartar) not removed by routine cleaning. Teeth cleaning done by a dentist is recommended once a year. Of course continue taking care of your teeth and mouth by brushing and flossing twice a day. The holidays are coming up, which means many reasons to smile so schedule your next appointment before they sneak up on you. We are a quality Chandler family dentist with a friendly and relaxing environment

Chandler Cosmetic Dentist - Here for you

It is a normal reaction for a kid to be afraid or weary of the dentist, weren’t most of us? We are here to save you, with tips that work and work well. It is not a good idea to take your kids with you to your dental appointment for a couple reasons. You may be anxious and not realize it and your child could pick up on it. Also, pediatric dental offices are a lot different than the adult dental offices due to the fact they are not made especially for kids. A pediatric office will appeal to children by presenting a fun atmosphere with fun paintings on the walls and decorations and toys to play with. Please don’t reward your child with anything, not even a piece of candy because they will expect it every time. We want our children to be anxiety free and maybe even look forward to going to their dentist without bribing them. However, do not forget to give them praise and make them smile about braving their appointment. Also, it will pretty much doom the chances of them being okay with the dentist if you wait until there is a problem to take your kid to an appointment. They will associate it with pain, discomfort, and those pointy objects don’t help either. When your kid asks about the dentist make sure to keep anything you say simple and positive. As adults we know the importance of oral hygiene and now it just needs to put it into words your children can understand. A good idea would be to have your whole family go to a dental office that offers everything you need in one convenient place, such as pediatric dentistry, orthodontics cosmetic dentistry, and adult dentistry. Plus everyone there will know how to handle children since they have been around patients of all ages. We hope these tips truly help your family at your dental visits and always know we are here to assist you any way we can. We cherish your families and your business. Also, don’t forget we have a Chandler cosmetic dentist office ready to make that smile perfect.

Why It Is Important To See Your Dentist

Seeing a dentist in Chandler AZ at Impressions Dental on a regular basis is extremely important in order to keep your teeth as healthy as possible. Whether you are having a routine checkup or tightening up your braces nothing will greet a person more firmly than a nice smile! However, it is not just your smile that you should be concerned with. You will also want to see a dentist regularly in order to avoid any sort of gum disease computations.

Did you know that if you are skipping out on regularly flossing twice each day than you might be missing roughly thirty percent of your tooth’s bacteria? This is not a good thing!

The average human being has thirty-two teeth inside of his or her mouth, which is all the more reason to floss, floss, floss! In order to avoid sickness, such as the flu and certain types of gum infection, a dentist will recommend that on average you should replace your tooth every two or three months.

Statistics prove that three out of every four people in the United States are currently diagnosed with some type of gum infection. Gum disease is very common and has the potential to get significantly worse. Seeing a dentist regularly is the easiest way of preventing any type of future gum disease.

You should not wait to get your teeth checked by a dentist! The importance of having a proper professional dentist is often overlooked. However, a routine check up at the dentist’s office should be a top priority of yours!
